The much-anticipated Insidious sequel, directed by and starring Patrick Wilson, is set to premiere in a month, and we’ve got a final trailer that gives us the lowdown of the plot as well as plenty of scary images to keep us up at night in the days leading up to the movie’s release.

The Red Door revisits the Lambert family, who faced the horrors of a supernatural realm called The Further. Josh (Wilson) survived the encounter in the first Insidious movie, as did his son Dalton, who was a small boy at the time.

The Red Door sees Dalton (Ty Simpkins) all grown up with no memory of the terrifying events of his childhood. It’s been ten years since the events of the first film, and supernatural horrors start happening again. As this trailer explains, Josh has to let Dalton know what’s really going on, that the nightmares his son has been having are actually real, and that he’s being haunted by a malevolent force that resides behind a titular demonic red door (a red door that also gets a lot of screen time in this trailer). That horror follows them everywhere, including when Josh is in an MRI machine, an image I don’t need to see ever again, thank you very much!

The movie, which Sony Pictures is touting as the “terrifying conclusion” to the Insidious franchise, is set to premiere in theatres on July 7, 2023. And if you’re sad this will be the final Insidious film centered on the Lambert family, don’t fret: We recently found out that a spinoff film is in the works called Thread, with Mandy Moore and Kumail Nanjiani attached to star.
